Sioux Falls Branch Holds 3rd Annual Blood Drive

Nov. 17 2017 Miscellaneous By Mid-States Utility

Today our Sioux Falls location participated in their 3rd annual blood drive! This is the 2nd time the Community Blood Bank has come onsite. Previously, many of our Sioux Falls employees donated at Spader’s RV Center and then the Community Blood Bank asked us if we would like to have them come on-site.

We want to say many thanks to those who donated today: Dan Denevan – Parts Manager, Darwin Kelm – Mid-States Shag driver, Kyle Orth – Transport Tech (picture – no hat), Ty Stavnes – MS Technician, Frank Hobart – MS Technician, Jon Bietz – Parts, Wendy Roeder – KTS, Mary Bultje – Office Manager, Steve Lei – customer (picture – hat on) and Greg Bootsma – MS Technician!

This donation marks Dan Denevan’s FIFTH gallon of blood donated, and Wendy Roeder’s first gallon! Thanks, team! What a wonderful way to help those who need it. As medical care advances, more of today’s treatments rely upon the availability of blood. For medical emergencies, ongoing treatments, and surgeries alike, blood is the staple upon which a patient’s life depends. Yet there is no substitute for human blood, the only hope is the blood received through volunteer donations.

FACT! Seven percent of the population provides 100 percent of the blood that is used. In addition, it is estimated that annually, more than four million people have a second chance at life because of blood transfusions made possible by volunteer blood donors.

The great thing about the Community Blood Bank, is that all of the blood stays within our community. A safe, cost effective supply of blood is delivered to local hospitals. If you or someone you know receives blood or blood products from medical treatment, The Community Blood Bank relies on local support to help replenish the units used, so it is available for other patients.
